Splash Day!!

Splash Day is an event that allows club members and potential club members to try out the club boats on the water at a local lake for free. All qualified club members can sail these boats. Everyone else can ride along! Also, it gives us a chance to get to know each other. Check the calendar for exact dates and places, and check back as the scheduled date approaches because they are subject to change.

What Do I Bring?
Bring your family and friends, picnic lunch, and lawn chairs. The park has grills and covered picnic tables if you'd like to bring some food. You might want to consider sunglasses and sunblock. Wear deck shoes you don't mind getting wet. Also, if you own a boat, bring it along and join the fun.

Where Is It And How Do I Get There?
We usually have Splash Day at Avalon Park on Lake Lavon.

From Plano, get on Hwy 190 heading east from US 75 (Central). Continue to head east until you get to Wylie, then turn (left) on Hwy 78 North. Look for Eask Fork Marina highway sign on the right as you leave Wylie. There is a small building with a sign of Games on the left where you need to turn. At the East Fork Marina sign, turn left. You will cross 2 sets of railroad tracks and then come to a fork, take the road to the right. Continue until you reach an intersection of Skyview road and the East Fork road. Turn right on Skyview and continue driving around the lake until you see a large divided entrance with gate on the left. Go to boat ramp and look for a table next to ramp with sailing club members.

From Garland, get on Hwy 78 north. After you pass through Wylie, look for East Fork Marina highway sign on the right. Follow the previous directions from there.

Big Boat Charter!!

Once or twice a year, the club takes off for a cruising weekend at Lake Texoma on 30 to 40 ft sailboats, Friday through Sunday. All boats are fully equipped with heads (bathrooms), galleys (kitchens), and sleeping quarters (6 to a boat). Each boat will have an experienced and qualified skipper from the club. No experience is required to be a crew member so guests and friends are welcome. We will anchor overnight in remote coves and sail all day! A full weekend charter usually costs about $75 to $95 per person.

Boat reservations must be made well in advance, so please reserve your place early. All people interested in crewing or captaining, contact the charter officer. The charters fill up fast, so don't wait! The boats are filled by the first come, first served rule. Check the calendar for exact dates. There will be an announcement from an officer with details as the scheduled date approaches.
