Introduction to TSC Sailing Courses

Texins Sailing Club offers sailing courses as an introduction to the sport of sailing, usually several times every year.  These courses are designed to provide the knowledge and skills to sail small boats, or progress to larger boats if you so desire.

We will offer two different courses in 2008:

Basics of Sailing Course – consists of four classes; two three-hour "Dry" classes, plus two "Wet" classes each lasting approximately three hours. One year club membership is included in the course fee.  Completion of this course will qualify the student to rent the club’s 17’ Boston Whalers.

Introduction to Racing Course – consists of one three-hour dry class, plus two “Wet" classes in which the students will participate in races.  The Basics of Sailing class (or equivalent knowledge and skills) and current membership in TSC are prerequisites for this course.  Completion of this course will qualify the student to also rent the club’s 15’ JY-15s.

A student who is unable to attend a class, and notifies the Rear Commodore of Training at least a week prior to the start of class, will be re-enrolled in an alternate class, providing that a replacement student can be found to take their place if the resulting class size drops below the minimum attendance level.

Wet classes are scheduled by negotiating a date and time between the student and the instructor.

Should TSC need to cancel a class, students will be rescheduled. If unable to provide an alternate class, TSC will issue a refund for all unattended classes.
